The Yukon Astronomical Society Observatory features the Gucciardo Telescope (a 9.25 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope in a telescope dome) a concrete pad on which additional telescopes can be placed, an outhouse, and a heated lounge/classroom space.
HOW TO GET TO THE OBSERVATORY:
The Yukon Astronomical Society Observatory is located up a hill behind the Eclipse Nordic Hot Springs. Turn right at the end of Takhini Hot Springs Road, as if you were going to the campground. At the roundabout in front of the campground lodge, exit the roundabout to the left. Follow this road without taking any of the branches to the left or right until you reach a small parking lot on the left hand side of the road. There is a large sign that marks the lot as parking for the Yukon Astronomical Society Observatory. Across the road from this small parking lot is the trail head for the path to the observatory, also marked by a sign. Follow the path up the hill to the observatory.
During the summer, we can provide road access directly to the observatory for people with disabilities. Please contact us to make arrangements.
